Wireless video conferencing is the trend by which the businessman of today conducts meetings. Video Conference

Most company's have the necessary video conferencing equipment and facilities, but for smaller companies who don't have the budget for their own video conference rooms, there are video conferencing companies that rent out video conference facilities and equipment at a cost per hour.

Besides the necessary hardware to conduct a video conference, one also requires video conferencing software, as well as a fast internet isdn or dsl connection.

One can also find Internet video conferencing sites that allow for free video conferences. But this is not really suitable for a business environment.

This week, 13,000 video game designers are gathering for the industry's biggest annual conference. The hot topic this year: independent games. These are games developed outside of the big corporations and exploring themes beyond medieval fantasy and futuristic shooter games. The independent game developers tackle subjects you'd expect to find in serious cinema: a marriage in crisis, democracy, a rabbi questioning his faith. Commentator Heather Chaplin is at the conference, and she says that the development of an independent games movement is a sign that the industry might be growing up. Chaplin is co-author of Smartbomb: The Quest for Art, Entertainment, and Big Bucks in the Videogame Revolution. ....

Cellular phones, online instant messaging programs and Web cameras help Royce Wainright stay in touch with his son, Donavan Wainright, a private first class serving in the Army at Camp Taji in Iraq. Although they communicate on a regular basis, those technologies have limits, Royce Wainright said. Royce Wainright and other family members recently talked to Donavan Wainright for more than an hour in a video conference arranged by volunteers with AT&T Pioneers and the Freedom Calls Foundation. "It's just like you're talking to him on the phone, and you can see him," Royce Wainright said. When a family member requests the service, volunteers with AT&T make sure the serviceman or woman is at one of the camps with the video-conference technology, said Tara Beekman, a volunteer with AT&T Pioneers....

Cisco Systems has launched the Cisco TelePresence Meeting Solution conference tool, a product designed to change the way executives communicate. Three high-definition video screens, multiple microphones and cameras will provide high-quality audio and video so that people across the world can easily and clearly communicate with one another. The idea behind telepresence is to try and mimic actual in-person meetings with a high level of realism. Cisco believes the product will most likely take several years before it turns profitable. The Cisco telepresence product will be available in two different versions starting in December. The TelePresence 1000, a basic model designed for one-on-one meetings, carries an estimated retail price of $79,000. LA arrest video prompts FBI probe

LOS ANGELES -- Video footage posted on YouTube.com showing a police officer repeatedly striking a suspect in the face during an arrest three months ago has sparked an FBI investigation. The video shows two officers holding down William Cardenas, 24, on a Hollywood street as one punches him several times in the face before they are able to handcuff him. The struggling suspect yells repeatedly, "I can't breathe!" The footage, shot by an area resident, came to the FBI's attention Thursday, prompting investigators to open a civil rights inquiry into the Aug. 11 altercation, agency spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said. A Superior Court commissioner who viewed the video nearly two months ago and heard the officers' testimony has found that their conduct was "more than reasonable" under the circumstances because Cardenas was resisting, the Los Angeles Times reported yesterday....
